Blessing Way Ceremonies:

There is nothing more powerful than a woman who is pregnant. Pregnancy is a sacred time and a Blessing Way honors this, as well as the spiritual rites of passage a woman undergoes as she becomes a mother. This celebration gathers friends and family in a sacred circle to honor her transition into motherhood.
Each Blessing Way is tailored to the individual but may include all or some of the following:
- The mother’s feet are soaked in warm soothing water and given a foot massage.
- A beautiful garland of flowers is placed on her head to signify the physical changes of her body.
- An appreciation round-where mother is appreciated by all gathered.
- Each woman as an offering to the mother shares a song, poem, writing or story about birthing, mothering, babies, children and life.
- A necklace for the baby is made of beads that the women put on, each bead representing a hope or wish or quality for the baby to have.
- Individual stones and crystals each representing qualities to help the mother through labor is placed in a beautiful bag to support her in labor.
- Each woman that attends will bring an item to create a symbolic gift for mom to use which will give her strength while in labor.
- Women who attend will all share positive stories of birth and motherhood.
- Belly masks can be made at the ceremony.
- Drum circle facilitated by a master drummer - the men play while the women “dance the baby down”
- Belly dancing instruction –originally performed by women for a woman in labor to show her how to move the baby down and out.
Blessing Ways celebrate the “birth” of a mother. Blessing Ways acknowledge the mother’s new status, and also helps her to say goodbye to the world she is leaving behind.

This treatment includes a hand, neck and shoulder massage. Families are welcome to participate. Recommended 3-6 weeks before due date.
