Doulas

Katie McCall, AAHCC, ALACE:
Katie
is a certified childbirth instructor, lactation educator, birth doula
and soon to be graduate of the National Midwifery Institute, where
she hopes to gain her midwifery license. She has assisted over 300
couples through childbirth education and has attended over 200 births
to date. She has a wide range of experience, serving natural,
medicated, cesarean, home, hospital and birth
center birthers.
She has also assisted many women from a diversity of
cultural, financial, age and religious backgrounds. She is also the
founder of The Birth Connection in Fullerton, CA and one of the
founders of The Birth Connection Milk Bank. She believes her job is
one of preparing and assisting the birthing woman on her own unique
journey into motherhood. If she has learned anything through her
experience with birth, it is that every birth is as different as the
women who are laboring. Katie is the mother of two and currently
lives in Silverlake. She enjoys
oil painting and drawing in her spare time.

Elizabeth
Sarun, ALACE:
Elizabeth,
a nursing student and doula has been attending births for two years.
Her goal is to inform, empower and serve women during pregnancy,
labor and birth and would like to eventually work as a midwife.
She
is the mother of one and lives in North Hollywood.

Chrissy
Cox, ALACE:
"My
name is Christine Cox. I am an ALACE educated doula. I hope to become
a midwife someday. I first became involved in the birthing community
during my pregnancy and the birth of my daughter, Isis. With the
guidance of my midwives, I became educated about my changing body, my
baby, and the choices I would make to have a gentle birth experience.
I planned a homebirth, but due to the position of my daughter, we
were transported to the hospital. Although my birth setting
was changed, I trusted in the wisdom of my body and still had the
natural birth I wanted.
I
truly believe that a healthy birth experience is essential in having
a balanced and beautiful life. I want to help empower women and their
partners to really know their bodies and be able to make informed
decisions to attain the birth they envision."

therapy is one of my many trades, pregnancy
