Chiropractic Care:
Why should I have chiropractic care during pregnancy?
During pregnancy,
there are several physiological and endocrinological changes that
occur in preparation for creating the environment for the developing
baby. The following changes could result in a misaligned spine or
joint:
When the pelvis is
misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the
developing baby. This restriction is called intrauterine constraint.
A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get
into the best possible position for delivery.
What are the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy?
Chiropractic care during pregnancy may provide benefits for women who are pregnant.
Potential benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy include:
-
Maintaining a healthier pregnancy
-
Controlling symptoms of nausea
-
Increasing the likelihood of full-term delivery
-
Reducing the time of labor and delivery
-
Relieving back, neck or joint pain
-
Prevent a potential cesarean section
Optimal baby
positioning at the time of birth also eliminates the potential for
dystocia (difficult labor) and therefore results in easier and safer
deliveries for both the mother and baby.
What about chiropractic care and breech deliveries?
There
is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment to establish
balance in the pregnant woman's pelvis and reduce undue stress to her
uterus and supporting ligaments. This balanced state in the pelvis
makes it easier for a breech baby to turn naturally. The technique is
known as the Webster Technique. This technique holds an 82% * SUCCESS RATE for normalizing BREECH
presentation, helping the mother avoid CESARIAN delivery.
(The
Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported in
the July/August 2002 issue an 82%)

Acupuncture:
What is acupuncture?
Chinese
medicine identifies more than 2,000 acupuncture points connected with
pathways called meridians that conduct vital energy or qi (pronounced
“chee”) throughout the body. Illness or symptoms are
associated with an imbalance of this vital energy. Acupuncture uses
hair-thin, disposable needles to stimulate specific areas associated
with organ functions in order to restore balance and help the body
maintain its own health.
Treatments are normally given once a month until the last month, when
weekly sessions help prepare for labor. An average session lasts 45
minutes, and women usually only feel a mild sensation such as a
feeling of slight heaviness at the site of needle insertion.
What
are the benefits of acupuncture during pregnancy? “As
more women seek drug-free treatment for the conditions of pregnancy,
this ancient Chinese healing art has much to offer... With no
contraindications, it can treat many conditions for which there is
rarely another lasting or effective remedy.”
Acupuncture
treatment during pregnancy benefits both Baby and Mother. “Certain
[infant] organ systems develop at certain points in the pregnancy.
Babies may be influenced by what is termed ‘maternal toxins,’
resulting in a childhood tendency for higher fevers when sick, more
frequent childhood illness and a tendency for skin problems such as
diaper rash and eczema. Regular balancing treatments throughout
pregnancy enhance the health of the mother, prevent complications and
influence the development of the baby.”*
Among
the many benefits of acupuncture during pregnancy, a recent study has
shown its particular effectiveness in:
First Trimester
Second-Trimester
Third-trimester
Relieve morning sickness Maintain balance Relief from sciatica relieve Assisting with
fatigue Alleviate heartburn Relief from backaches

What are the benefits of acupuncture in labor?
What are the benefits of acupuncture post-delivery?
-
Regulate Bleeding
-
Restoring a mother's energy levels after the stress of birth
-
Alleviating depression and anxiety
-

Herbal Therapy:
Are herbs safe during pregnancy?
Some
are and some are not.
All licensed
acupuncturists receive four years of herbal training and are board
certified. It is their job to know when to use a particular herb and
when not to.
Generally herbs
are not given in the first trimester unless the doctor and patient
are addressing a specific issue. It is common to use herbs in the
second and third trimesters. It is important that each patient’s
case history be studied before herbs are prescribed as herbal
formulas are tailored to the individual.

CranioSacral Therapy and Acupressure:
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a soothing,
non-invasive form of bodywork that focuses on removing restrictions
in the craniosacral system to allow us to access our natural healing
abilities. The Craniosacral system is comprised of the membranes and
cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal
cord, extending from the cranium down to the sacrum. The cranial rhythm
(like your pulse) can be felt at any area in the body and requires
only the most delicate of contact (typically less than the weight
of a nickel). During your treatment, various areas will be held for
a prolonged amount of time, allowing you to enter a deeply meditative
and healing state.
How can Craniosacral benefit me and my family?
Craniosacral
is wonderful for infants, children and adults. Infants respond especially
well to this therapy, which helps them heal from the trauma of birth,
addresses colic, sucking/feeding problems, restlessness, misshapen
heads and more. This beautiful therapy also addresses issues such
as TMJ, headaches, past physical traumas, emotional traumas and difficulties,
back and neck pain, fatigue and so much more. Of course, if you are
already feeling well, this therapy is a great tool for supporting
your health.
What is Jin Shin Do Acupressure?
Acupressure is usually described as acupuncture without needles. This
unique style is a synthesis of a traditional Japanese acupressure
technique, classic Chinese acupuncture and acupressure theory, Taoist
philosophy, Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental
theory and principles of Ericksonian psychotherapy. Gentle yet firm
pressure is used on various acu-points located along the meridians
that flow through your entire body, having an effect on physical,
emotional and energetic restrictions and tensions. This slow-paced
method allows the body the opportunity to connect with the area being
worked on, facilitating a deep muscular release of armored and tense
areas and freeing blocked energy. During a session, clients typically
experience deep, pleasurable relaxation and increased awareness of
both the body and psyche..
How can Jin Shin Do Acupressure benefit me and my family?
While acupressure addresses physical
symptoms and pain, it also deals with the emotional issues that may
be at the root of the problem. This holistic approach helps break
unhealthy patterns, release muscular armoring and support your overall
health. We can address many symptoms, such as headaches, sciatica,
insomnia, depression, fatigue, skin problems, TMJ and more.

Hypnotherapy:
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is not an artificial condition imposed upon a subject; it is already a normal part of our day, occurring in those moments when we find ourselves spacing out, daydreaming, or highly focused to the point that we lose track of our surroundings. In these states, the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to suggestions and ideas, providing an opening in which learning occurs.
This is the way to make positive changes. A person cannot be hypnotized against his/her will. All Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis. The individual is in total control of thoughts and feelings. The Hypnotherapist is only a facilitator who guides the client in exploring his/her own inner world to identify and utilize the resources available for achievement of goals, healing and personal growth.
With the use of Hypnosis and NLP, the client can replace limiting behaviors and beliefs with new attitudes and actions to stimulate a new and healthier approach to life's challenges.
What are the benefits of HypnoBirthing during pregnancy and Birth?
Learn Relaxation Techniques to Eliminate Fear, Tension, and Pain. Achieve birth fulfillment--awake and alert--in a totally relaxed state of mind and body. With the HypnoBirthing method you will gain an understanding of how the body works during pregnancy & labor so that when you are sufficiently relaxed, the birthing muscles can work in perfect harmony as they were designed to. You will learn how to achieve this kind of relaxation free of the resistance that fear creates and you will learn to use your natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and more comfortable birthing.
With HypnoBirthing your partner or companion is also fully involved and is taught how to help you practice your relaxation techniques between classes and to help you maintain relaxation during labor. We encourage all pregnant women to bring their birthing companion to the classes, although this does not necessarily have to be the father it would usually be the person who will be present with the mother during birthing.
Our practitioner/teacher offers group classes on Sundays, and Private HypnoBirthing classes in the comfort of Love the belly or in the privacy of your home.
